  • Make sure your signature is within the box only.
  • Don’t forget to mention your correct PAN number.
  • Get your thumb impression attested by Gazetted Officer like a Magistrate, Notary Public or any such official with official seal and stamp on the application form to make your thumb impression it authentic in all respects.
  • Add Proof of Address (POA), Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Date of birth (PODB with the application form meant for Individuals & HUF Karta applicants as prescribed by the Income Tax Rules, 1962 for Rule 114 (4) to process applications.

  • You shouldn’t forget to attach PAN proof like a Xerox copy or allotment letter for PAN that Income Tax Department had issued to you with the application for processing.

Don’ts

  • Overwriting, making corrections on data in application form leads to its rejection so avoid it.
  • Stapling or pinning of photograph isn’t permitted.
  • Sign inside the box provided by ensuring that it doesn’t go across the box.
  • There is no use of providing POI, POA and PODB for names not mentioned an application.
  • Avoid writing initials in the signature box like mentioning date, rank and designation are useless and not required. Keep in mind to mention father’s name in a column instead of your husband’s name.
  • The first and last name filed shouldn’t carry initials so avoid using them.
